The Portuguese Society of Plant Physiology will host the“XIII Congresso Luso-Espanhol de Fisiologia Vegetal” that will take place in Lisbon, at Faculdade de Ciências de Lisboa (Campo Grande), from the 24th to the 27th July, 2013.
World-wide recognized scientists from Portugal, Spain, USA, Chile and the UK will contribute to this meeting with six Plenary Lectures. A comprehensive and exciting programme will include ten sessions (each with a keynote speaker and 4-6 oral communications) covering subjects that extend from “Cell Biology and Development” to “Biotechnology and Innovation”. Other sessions include “Plant-Microbial and Plant-Abiotic Interactions”, “Metabolism and Bioenergy”, “Evolution and Biodiversity”, “Applied Physiology”, “Systems Biology and Omics Studies”, “Education and Teaching” and “Entrepreneurship / Financing Opportunities”.
While aiming for a scientifically challenging and interesting meeting we also want to reach schools, promoting plant research to young students and teachers and bring some of them to participate in the congress (see program). Throughout this congress we will disseminate top quality research and increase public awareness for the importance of plants and plant research for global food security, renewable resources, bio-energy, environment and sustainability, health and well-being and to the global economy. Special conditions are offered to facilitate the participation of scientists coming from Portuguese speaking-countries (CPLP), and the participation of students.
Organized in a central area in Lisbon, easy to reach through many different transports, this Congress still gives you the chance of visiting a dream city that in 2011 saw its typical Fado singing be included in the UNESCO intangible heritage list.
Lisbon hosts several sites of extraordinary cultural significance, and offers fabulous views and excellent food. If you plan to enjoy some holidays, before or after the congress, don’t miss the mystic Sintra and the historic old town Évora. If you enjoy the beach, you have plenty of choices extending from Lisbon to the Algarve along the charming Blue Coast.
You are most welcome in Lisbon and we look forward to your presence in this congress of Plant Physiology!
